NACK is a club serving all aspects of paddle sports.

Based on Long Island, New York, NACK serves paddling interests throughout the Northeastern United States. We believe that a strong commitment to training and assessment fosters personal growth. We encourage all members to safely explore the limits of their capabilities in order to best enjoy their chosen aspect of paddling. Together we seek adventure in paddling.

NACK Board Meetings: The NACK Executive Committee, Committee Chairs and Board of Directors meet in joint session. These meetings are where most of activity, event and long range planning takes place, as well as development of our policies and procedures. All members are invited to attend these meetings - pre-registration is required.

NACK Peer & Demo Team Practices: Peer practices offer opportunity for members to practice skills with assistance from other members. Demo team members practice skills in order to prepare for presentations at Outreach Events. Both groups are scheduled to practice together on evenings and weekends. Times and locations vary as daylight permits.

New Member Paddles: New Member Paddles are open to all paddlers regardless of training and do not require a completed skill assessment to participate.
New Member Paddles are key events. We need volunteers to act as backup on these activities, please contact our Acting Trips Chair, Elizabeth, at 631-563-6654 to confirm your support.

NACK Training & Skill Assessment: NACK is a club that believes in quality skills training, assessment and certification for all its members. We use only ACA Certitified Instructors and Skill Assessors. In general we try to schedule appropriate training in advance of skill assessements. For more information please consult our Training and Safety Chair, Elizabeth, at 631-563-6654.

Congratulations and Thank You's

Shinnecock Bay Outreach & Paddle: This is the second year for this outreach training event led by John Weickert. We put on a demonstration, lecture and led a paddle for local paddlers on Shinnecock Bay. The event earned us a special thank-you from the local group:

Dear John and North Atlantic Canoe and Kayak, Inc.
We would like to thank you for providing the wonderful presentation you made on July 11th at the beach on Marlin Road. We appreciated the time you gave to our community and looking forward to future presentations.
Sincerely, Shinnecock Shores Association

Founders Day Barbeque: Also on July 11, 2009 our Board Chair again offered his summer home on Shinnecock Bay for our second annual Founders Day Barbeque Dinner. It was a wonderful time for all attending and lasted to the wee hours. Special thanks to our Social Chair: Renee for organizing this great "to do".

ACA Directors Elections: Member, First Past President and Founding Director of NACK, Gordon Dayton was nominated to the Board of the American Canoe Association this year. His status was approved during the annual elections in January. Gordon also continues to serve on the Safety Education and Instruction Council as Clubs Liaison, and as Chair of the Coastal Kayak Committee for the Atlantic Division of the ACA. Congratulations!

Wilderness First Aid: NACK recognizes dedicated members Elizabeth, Gordon, Renee and John who received certification or recertification through SOLO in WFA and American Heart Association CPR. This training can make a critical difference if help is not immediate at an on-water location!
